How can anyone profess the Jewish or Christian faith when it itself condones slavery! How can any racial minority be a Christian when Jesus himself did not condemn slavery, but used slaves in his illustrations? Also, the apostile Paul admonishes us to KEEP slaves.
Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior. – Titus 2:9-10

I’ve been reading over your posts. Are you an ex-Jehovah witness? I would like to hear your story if so as I have talked to many who are very hostile towards religion now that they are out of the kingdom hall. Also, there are a lot of claims you are making against the Christian Bible and God that demonstrate a lack of understanding of the faith, cultural context, and so forth. I don’t mean that in a condescending way–I’ve talked to a lot of atheists who have made these similar claims time and time again without really knowing the full picture of what was going on. I’d like to have some peaceful discussion about these claims (one topic at a time) if you are interested.

Great. I found your book on the giveaways page. I read over the prologue. Yours is like many other stories I have heard from those who grew up JW. We could go back and forth for a long time discussing the many problems within JW theology, but it’s been done many times, and there’s a plethora of websites and FB pages who have that information as well. I’ll start by saying I’m sorry you had to go through what is by definition a Christian cult. They are not Christian–they don’t acknowledge Jesus as almighty God, and they add to the saving message of the Gospel, therefore they do not accept historical and biblical teachings of the true Christian God. And, in addition to their literal brainwashing and control tactics, they end up causing more harm than good. So the JWs are indeed a harmful religion. They are works based, and they honestly can’t guarantee the salvation promises as Jesus offered his disciples. Your experience with them was damaging I’m sure, and the horrible story about your child is not uncommon. I’m thankful he was able to get the medical help he needed. I welcome conversation with JWs when they come by my house. They are nice, and we have a brief discussion but it usually ends quickly when I call them out (politely) on some inerrant teachings that they can’t answer to.
So, let’s talk about some of the claims you have made. To start off, I’m an evangelical Christian. I was raised in a conservative church and still attend one. I’ve published two books to Amazon, my most recent being in November, and I KNOW the frustrating struggle of marketing. I tried the giveaway and it didn’t work. I saw in your prologue a lot of claims about the Bible and science not coinciding. Oddly enough, I run a grass-roots creation ministry answering many of the claims that state Genesis, young earth creation, etc. are not true. I do hold to a young earth, literal 6-day creation, literal global flood, and the other teachings associated with Answers in Genesis, Creation Ministries International, and many others. I find that the science does back up these findings. I reject evolution as promoted by Darwin, and I accept that a global flood would easily explain our current geography, geology, and the position of the fossils. Some may scoff at this, but science does have a significant degree of philosophy behind it, such as the scientist’s starting point (God or not god), and science can ONLY explain the natural, thus God is supernatural and outside of the realm of scientific testing.
I hope you find all my comments and replies respectful. We are in disagreement from the start, and that is okay. No snarkiness or condescension is ever meant or implied from me. I have been in dialogue with atheists ever since I was called into ministry about 8 or so years ago, and literally 100% are completely disrepectful to me. This is not because we disagree, but it is just their tactic when they can’t seem to provide the evidence for their claims. In my many years of discussion, none have been able to accurately back up their claims. This is not because I’m some type of genius….they just don’t have the evidence. I hope that in our conversation you can be just as respectful as I plan to be, and I ask that you please focus on only one topic at a time so our replies don’t turn into long dissertations. 🙂 I hope the rest of my replies are short as well, but historically I have to explain things said and not said because I get mocked if it isn’t addressed beforehand.
Let’s start off with this: If I can demonstrate to you that a god exists, and demonstrate that it is the Christian God of Judeo-Christian theology, would you worship him? Keep in mind we have not yet discussed the alleged evils God has allowed or the problems with the Christian God. I just want to know if I can demonstrate that God exists, and that God is truly good, would you worship him.
